Conference patient to patient scholarship fund

PRIORITY MESSAGE: Patient to Patient Scholarship Fund
If you want to come the the October AACFS conference, but are unable to do so, might you consider supporting someone who wants to come but is financially unable? The Patient to Patient scholarship fund established by the WIsconsin CFS Association, Inc is looking for your donation. What you will get in return is an accounting of total dollars collected, a list of people with first names only and how much we were able to support them in coming to this conference. In addition, we will write you a tax exempt note, so you can use this as a charitable contribution for the IRS.

Because most patients lack resources even to the point of not having enough to eat, past record shows that patients sell furniture, beg and borrow to come to these events. Patients most often relapse for weeks or even months after attending. Why do these people continue to attend?

Aside from all the science and clinical information available, we believe that events like this offer community. People belong, feel valued and feel attached to a larger happening. They find others to talk with. Isolation and alienation go away. Despite ideological differences on advocacy, people leave conferences with a better understanding of themselves and the ideas of others. In light of this, our Association has in place several events that foster community. You can read about these on the WI web site at www.wicfs-me.org.

If you are unable to come to the conference for whatever reason, might you consider donating a small amount to our patient to patient fund? As I said, you will have a full accounting of how these funds are spent. You can donate online below through PayPal or you can send those gifts to our office at.
