Join us in the Parents' Corner
Dear Parents,
This past August, Rebecca Moore and I joined forces to become cofounders
of the new website The Pediatric Network. Many of you have already become
members and I thank you for your support and participation. For those who
have not had the opportunity, I ask you to take a minute to visit our new
site and forum. The website The Pediatric Network for Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and Orthostatic Intolerance can be
found at www.pediatricnetwork.org <http://www.pediatricnetwork.org> . It
offers a wealth of resources and articles on a variety of topics from
Medical issues to Educational, from Parenting to Coping. It is a
wonderful place for us as parents to meet for support and understanding
and also has sections devoted to our children where they will find the
understanding that only another child/adolescent suffering from this
illness can provide as well as a special place for their healthy
siblings!! The Youth Chat Section is not all about the illness, but is a
fun place the kids gather and chat about many areas of their lives. Megan
has found connecting with others online a tremendous coping tool. It has
given her strength and perspective, compassion and a sense of humor about
the illness. It has been a very positive thing for her. I am hoping to
develop the Parents Corner to offer the same kinds of qualities to parents
who wish to visit. And our Siblings Club is for the often left out
siblings who also need a private place to discuss their issues and thier
hopes and dreams as well as ask questions and get support from others in
the same boat.
The forum has been a wonderful active network of people who have come
together to share a common bond, life with CFS/FM/OI or living with it in
a family member, friend, patient, or other. I have truly benifited from
the heartwarming contacts that I have had with the wonderful people who
are visiting. I am writing because the parents forum has suddenly gotten
very quiet, and I thought it may be because many of you do/don't know that
we are there, you forgot our address, or life is too overwhelming right
now to drop in. I wanted to let you know that you are missed. If things
are going great in your child's life, please share your news. If your days
are consumed with living minute to minute, think about stopping by for a
fast boost from those of us who are going through some rough times
ourselves. Maybe you would like to check out our newest section with
inspirational quotes and humor posts for a fast lift to your day.
Whatever the reason, I hope to see you soon in the Parents' Corner. I
would love to hear what you and your child are up to, how things are
going, and if there is any way we can better help you to get through
another day.
My very best to each and everyone of you and to your children.
Fondly,
Mary Z Robinson
PS ( There is a flyer that we have available on our website, at the bottom
of the home page, that introduces the Pediatric Network and is suitable
for downloading and printing to share the network with your child's
teachers, school personell, doctors, nurses,
therapists and family.)
