OF INTERNATIONAL CFIDS AWARENESS DAY |
CONTACT: rik carlson <rx@monkeyswithwings.com>
The Vermont CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome)
Association Inc., will host it’s 12th annual event in recognition of
International CFIDS Awareness Day, Monday May 12, 2008, at 1:00 PM,
at the Community Room of the Burlington Police Station, One North
Avenue, Burlington, VT.
Highlighting this year’s event, Kenneth J. Friedman Ph.D. (Pawlet VT,
Green Mountain College) will announce an extraordinary new CFS
medical scholarship program in Vermont that follows in the tradition
of the groundbreaking CFS legislation put forth by The Vermont CFIDS
Association two years ago.
Michael Thurston (Exile Media, Vermont Book of Days, Barre VT) will
provide a sneak preview of a new film, “Invisible”, about CFS in
Vermont. The film is currently in production and is tentatively
scheduled for release in the fall of 2008.
There will be delivered statements of support from Vermont’s
Congressional delegation, the Governor, the Mayor of Burlington and
from the Vermont Department of Health.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) affects at least one million
Americans, including thousands in Vermont, and it devastates their
lives and the lives of people who love them. The Centers For Disease
Control studies have shown that CFS is as disabling as multiple
sclerosis, end-stage renal failure and chronic, obstructive pulmonary
disease. Each year, CFS costs our nation $9.1 billion in lost
productivity alone.
The Vermont CFIDS Association was formed in 1997 as a resource and
support group for victims of CFS and their families.
Press kits with biographies and a DVD trailer will be available at
the event. |
