Drowning in Moonlight
it would seem so much easier
to drown in Lake Superior
than to writhe in pain
in the emergency room
the dark side of the full moon
tempts me to its silvery path
of jewels to trick me to take
to the water: my pain
my sorrow
my grief
my sick body
and I might: swim
sink
swell
surface
survive
